A brand new Western adventure from Paul L. Thompson!

Rita Slone was now a twenty-four-year-old widow with a fair size ranch to run, alone.

Rustlers had cut their fence and drove a small herd of their cattle through that hole. When twenty-six-year-old Phillip Slone saw that hole and cut wire, he followed tracks south then on down beside the Rio Grande, then over the west mesa. For over twenty miles he slowly loped his horse to just a few miles northwest of El Paso.

It was close sundown when he found his cattle and hundreds and hundreds more being bedded down. He could hardly believe his eyes. ‘What the hell?’

He fell from his horse with a knife buried in his chest. The next morning Rita went looking for him. She found his body before noon and saw that knife. She got her horse to lay down, and with a lot of effort, pulled Phillip’s body upon the saddle and got the horse up.

As the horse stood, she looked at all those cattle tracks and manure. She climbed on Phillip’s horse and reached for the reins of her horse then headed for home. She yelled, ‘You wronged me, you will die! I sure as hell will kill every stinking one of you! You just took my only reason for living! Now you will all die!’
