Colonel Saxon has lived for more than two centuries, revived after an endless eternity in suspended animation to lead a war against the tyranny of the Council, a war for the freedom of three worlds. His victories at the Battle of the Ring changed the nature of the war, rousing the fury of the malevolent forces of Colonial Security, now arming to exterminate the Underground once and for all, to destroy the rebel fleets and commit their people to the slow death of the ice mines of Mimas.

One desperate option remains, a throw of the dice devised by Colonel Saxon to bring the fighting to an end, once and for all. If the battle cannot be won at Saturn, a prize still remains, drifting through the depths of space. Ring Orbital, an asteroid carved into a space station, a potential fortress that can stand against the forces of Colonial Security and any conceivable threat. Only a skeleton staff are present to defend it, but once the Council realizes their plans, they will throw everything they have into the fight to stop them.

If Ring Orbital is to be take, Colonel Saxon's fleet must slip into the depths of space unseen. Before he can conquer a world, he must first launch the boldest covert operation ever conceived, destroying the Council's surveillance network, an array of satellites monitoring every move made within their territory. Will Saxon's Raid win the war, or will its failure bring about the final victory of oppression and tyranny...
