A novel by

The body hung suspended in the giant, metal ring for all the world like a battered bird in a gilded cage. What had happened to the pretty songbird? And why?

Dunbarton is going green! Theatrically, that is. A semi-professional production of WICKED is filling the first spot in the Summer Theatre Festival. Everyone in town is excited about the musical - everyone except Alicia Dunbar-Mallory who has been shoved aside to make way for a big-time, professional director and his ‘Songbirds’. He and his actresses and stage crew have taken over The Pavilion by the Lake theatre and life there will never be the same.
Sabotage, back-stabbing and illicit affairs run rampant backstage, while on stage a local Songbird threatens to eclipse her big-city counterparts.
When one of the Songbirds is silenced permanently, suspicion falls on professionals and amateurs alike. Who would want to end her life? Someone local who is unhappy with the bringing-in of professionals? Or an enemy from the city, who has followed her to town?
When the spotlight of suspicion falls on Alicia who has the most to lose if professionals take over the festival, she and her husband, Chris, must prove her innocence before the curtain falls on her and the life they love.
