After several false starts, Juliet Cole dares to believe her life is pretty much sorted. She has a lovely twelve-year-old daughter, Rachel, she’s finally met the love of her life, Gray, and she has a satisfying career as an illustrator of children’s books.

But it’s hard to ignore the subtle changes she sees in Gray’s behaviour. He’s become self-absorbed, as if he’s hiding something from her. His refusal to talk about it fuels Juliet’s fears that Gray doesn’t love her any more.

When Juliet’s best friend, Andrea, turns up on the doorstep needing somewhere to stay, Juliet welcomes her. At first, Andrea’s lively presence relieves some of the tension in the house - until she starts to cause more problems than she solves. Andrea’s marriage has recently broken down, and she’s determined to move on. Which would be fine by Juliet - if only this ‘moving on’ didn’t entail starting an affair with one of Juliet’s married neighbours.

With Gray becoming more secretive by the day, Andrea crazier than ever, and Rachel’s new-found pre-teen angst adding to Juliet’s problems, it’s no wonder she sees an escape route in the form of Jonno, a free-runner who just happens to land on her roof terrace one day. And who also happens to be totally gorgeous…
