(1983)
A novel by

Eighteen year old Sarah goes as a companion to Mrs Paynter, an invalid, who lives at Penzallion, a remote house in the far south-west of Cornwall. Sarah falls in love with Alistair, a marine archaeologist, who shares the house with his aunt, but he is a strange, forbidding man, haunted by the past. Keith, an artist, persuades Sarah to sit for him, but Alistair says she must not go to his studio again. When a T.V. company uses Penzallion as the background for a murder film Sarah meets Roger, who had been at Art school with her. Can he or Keith persuade her to leave Penzallion? Or does she prefer to remain as a Prisoner of Love?
