(2015)(A book in the Elizabeth and Darcy Story series)
A novel by Timothy Underwood
Elizabeth had thanked God when her husband died...
After Papa died, Elizabeth Bennet married her father's heir, Mr. Collins, so that her beloved sister Jane would not be forced to marry him to save the family from poverty. She had been only fifteen years old.
Mr. Collins was an awful, ugly man who mistreated the servants. And Elizabeth's marriage was an unending nightmare. Elizabeth felt joy when he died. Afterwards she dedicated herself to managing the estate she now had inherited, and making sure her family would never fear poverty again. After such a first experience of having a husband, she planned to never marry again.
Years later man a wealthy man leased the nearby estate of Netherfield, and Elizabeth met her new neighbor's haughty and handsome friend, Fitzwilliam Darcy. Even though Mr. Darcy saw himself as superior to most of the local gentry, Elizabeth and he quickly became fast friends. But when Elizabeth imagined a happy future with Mr. Darcy, her terrifying memories of Mr. Collins returned to torment her...
Note: This novel is 65,000 words long. Several people told me that while they didn't like the idea of Elizabeth married to Mr. Collins, they really liked the story. He already dead when the prologue starts. Also at the end of 2021 I had the book reedited, so it should have far fewer comma splices and typos than before. Please, only pay attention to reviews saying the editing is terrible that were published after the start of 2022
