For centuries, dragonkind lived in peace with the islanders of the Kelak’ai archipelago.

Until a rumor said that dragon parts, from our scales to our organs, were the cure to all the world’s ailments.

Overnight, my kind went from deities to commodities, and we were hunted practically to extinction. Now, I am the last dragon, forced to hide in the bowels of a volcano and watch the sea below for threats.

The islands were no stranger to raids, and normally, I took pleasure in watching the people who gutted my kind being subjected to the same suffering.

This raid was different, though. For one, the marauders seemed to possess a strange type of magic that the islanders could not defend against. Because of this, the island priestess was forced to flee into the mountains, into my volcano.

Perhaps I should have roasted her on the spot.

Or maybe she is the key to ending my isolation.
