My ex-husband.
His new wife.
Both living under my roof
I share a house with my ex-husband, Ben. I know that sounds odd, but we make it work. We renovated this home together and we both love it too much to leave. A floor each, a schedule for taking turns to use the kitchen it’s all perfectly amicable. Until his new wife moves in.
Yasmin breezes in on a cloud of linen and expensive perfume. She’s all sweetness and light at first, giving me flowers and warm hugs. But her perfect veneer soon starts to crack. Our lovingly restored kitchen is a mess. Loud parties and unwelcome guests destroy any calm that existed before. Then I find her in my room. And I start to wonder: Yasmin and Ben got married really quickly. How well does he actually know her ?
I can’t even ask Ben, because suddenly, he disappears. He texts me saying he’s home, but I can only hear one set of light footsteps on the floor above me, and he’s not answering his phone. I know my ex-husband better than anyone, and I know he’s not really upstairs.
When I run down the steps to our basement, a door slams behind me. I hear a key turn in the lock. I realise I might be too late, not only for Ben, but for myself too
Fans of None of This Is True, John Marrs, T.M. Logan and Freida McFadden will be utterly gripped by this addictive, page-turning psychological thriller.
