'Counterblow' picks up after book 7 in ‘Retaliation’—tension and drama abound in spades. There are complicated interactions between the characters. There’s pain, anguish, despair, suffering, and death. Let’s not forget sex.

Avril’s and Sir’s romance grows, if ever so slowly. Why? Avril has to teach him what genuine love between a man and a woman means. He does not know what this kind of love is, despite his own parents’ display of love for each other. Those parental lessons were lost on Sir, and only got worse when his mother passed away at an early age. All he knows is desire and want, taking what he wants to fulfill his desire.

Sir’s older sister, Raven, who is just like Sir, hates Avril and the idea that her brother may fall for a woman who was once prey for the Consortium’s auction house. She just might do anything possible to rid Avril from their lives and takes every opportunity to remind her brother of that option. Without Sir’s protection, Avril is sure to succumb to Raven’s passion.

Meanwhile, Raven continues her campaign to avenge the loss of Cavea and her brother’s home. She aims to remove the impediment to the Consortium’s recovery by holding those responsible accountable. That impediment is two young women who are resilient in their efforts to end the Consortium.

So far, she’s unsuccessful. Will she succeed in this book? Read the story to find out.

Not only is this book a work of fiction, but it may also raise awareness of the global threat of human trafficking. Perhaps someone you know disappeared, never to be heard from again. As I previously stated, I never stop looking over my shoulder for the possibility that what I write about could be real. If nothing else, awareness is key to protecting yourself and your loved ones, even if that awareness stems from a work of fiction.

Won’t you please take a moment to leave a review? The lifeblood of an author is the ongoing cycle of writing and receiving feedback, which often begins with reader reviews. It’s what drives us to continue writing.
