Six hours on the Empire State Building observation deck. Freezing. Her date didn't show. Something else did.

Fran Calloway is a Brooklyn preschool teacher with a system: children who need extra care and attention get a small gargoyle on their desk. She has been doing this for eleven years without knowing what gargoyles actually are. She is about to find out.

His name is Pluto. Nine hundred years old, enormous, warm to the touch in a way that makes no architectural sense, and constitutionally incapable of saying anything that isn't true.

She calls him Steve. He doesn't correct her.

Grimhollow is a hidden mountain vale protected by nine ancient gargoyles who hold monthly meetings, take formal minutes, and have managed every threat the vale has ever faced. They did not have a protocol for this.

Cozy paranormal romance with humor, heart, and an ensemble of ancient beings being undone by love one at a time — while the monthly meeting minutes record everything and explain nothing.

Lately, Saturn's handwriting has been different.

The record is pleased.
