Meet Mrs. Stonier
Mrs. Alex Stonier, a retired widow with a keen eye for antiques, never expected that a few old photo albums and a family history class would lead her into the midst of a long-forgotten crime. With her background in publishing and her new venture into vintage sales, she’s the last person anyone would suspect of becoming embroiled in murder investigations. Yet, her interest in the past pulls her into solving mysteries that others overlook whether they lie hidden in old family albums or buried beneath centuries-old estates.
BOOK 1: LONG MAN'S SHADOW
When Mrs. Stonier inherits an old photo album, she is drawn into a mystery tied to the Brittan family, once prominent in Sussex. A body found on the grounds of the Jevington family estatehome to the ancient Long Man figureseems to be connected to the Brittan family’s past. As she digs deeper, Mrs. Stonier uncovers a buried tragedy involving a lost member of the Brittan family. But someone in the present is determined to keep these secrets hidden, and they’ll stop at nothing to protect the past.
BOOK 2: DEAD MAN'S SHADOW
When a retired publisher helps her daughter renovate a Victorian house in Stoke Newington, she doesn’t expect the discovery that lies beneath the floorboards a rusted tin box filled with deeds and letters from 1890. The papers tell of Jeremiah Barton, a property owner, and Tristan King, a charismatic preacher whose followers built a church known as Gothic Hall. With the help of her neighbour Mrs Stonier, a local historian who knows more than she admits, she begins to trace a string of deaths that once surrounded King’s fanatical sect. But as the past bleeds into the present, it becomes clear that the darkness of Gothic Hall was never truly laid to rest.
Perfect for fans of M.C. Beaton, Victoria Hamilton, T.E. Kinsey and James E. Craig.
