A grumpy witch. A sunshine dryad. A kiss that wakes the wood…

Cass:
I came to Widdershins to get away from home and party, not plant trees. After I accidentally set the greenhouse on fire, I’m forced to do permanent detention in the Old Grove. And that’s where I meet Linden—six-foot something, shoulders like a barn door, and the kind of smile that makes everyone’s heart melt, including mine. He grows pears with his mind, thanks every tree by name, and calls me ‘sparks’ like it’s my legal title. I try to be unimpressed. My magic… does not cooperate.

The more time we spend together—repotting seedlings, rescuing an angry raccoon from a compost bin, shoveling manure like it’s a full time job—the calmer my storms get. Which would be great, except most dryads are rooted to their Heartwood. If I fall for him, I might be asking him to choose between me and the forest that keeps him alive.

Linden:
I like sunshine, water, and Cass Reed. I take care of the Grove, the bees, and anyone who wanders in looking tired. Cass pretends he doesn’t need help and I pretend I don’t notice his magic going haywire every time I’m near. I’m a simple guy. I lift heavy things, sing to saplings, make Cass laugh at least once a day. I’d love nothing more than to sweep him up in my arms and run away, the two of us bonded forever.

But roots matter. If I’m away from the Heartwood too long, I fade. And now developers want to ‘improve’ the Old Grove into a parking lot with decorative shrubs. Cass also has an offer to join a big-city coven once he’s done with school. Our paths seem to be diverging.

I have a forest that counts on me to survive. But my heart may never recover if I let Cass go.

Evergreen is a warm, grumpy/sunshine academy romance with greenhouse kisses, gentle humor, plant magic, and a happily-ever-after that refuses to be uprooted. Perfect for readers who love big hearts, soft strength, and love that grows where you least expect it.
