Katieris was only thirteen when her magic manifested. It didn't even seem to be hers when the strange hands of wind had pushed away the bullies in the alleyway, but her attacker became her accuser and the girl was forced to flee. In Argus, having magic had a penalty and those found out to be wizards soon found magical collars around their necks. Paired with a bracelet for their keeper to use to control them, those with magic became aubers serving the state in its continual fight against magic.
Warren was an inhaber, or wizard keeper, who paired with new wizards to train them in the hopes of remaining joined with them to use them as weapons in the military. The problem was he had failed to connect with four wilders already and many wondered if the man would ever figure it out.
When Warren first saw Katieris, the petite girl looked like a drowned mouse covered in mud and dirt from a long horrible journey; but as they tested for a connection the magic of their kette apparently knew something that they did now. Forming a true bond, the perfect connection, before saying even one word the two would be united to see if they become a team that would last through all the struggles ahead. Their training would be harsh and the two would have to work together learning to trust each other when their world said that those touched by magic were cursed.
As their training began and Katieris' unusual magic both made it hard to keep up with her class and put a spotlight on the young wizard, Warren worked harder than he ever had with a wizard. Coming to love her like a sister, the two eventually turned their sights on becoming wizard hunters. Inspired to keep their land safe from other dangerous wild wizards while keeping the small girl away from the dangerous frontlines of the army, Warren and Katieris head out on their first hunt looking for missing wizards in the city which had been her home.
