“Honestly, I’m not asking for a lifetime commitment right now. I have to find a house, start a business, volunteer in the community, and all while I am trying not ruin the pre-teen I’ve got in my care.”

The Dumont Island Boarding House is located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and is only accessible by car ferry. Most roads on the island are gravel, though the main road that travels down the middle of the island is paved. There are conveniences such as a general store, post office, souvenir shops, café, and a post office on the island, as well as a few cottages spaced along the amazing coastline. The boarding house sits on the far side of the island, with limited resources including electricity supplied only by generator for a brief time during the early evening hours, with gasoline lanterns used at night. Everyone knows each other on the island and they all like to take care of each other as a community of neighbors.

Gordon has been missing his buddy Seth, who recently moved closer to Dumont to be with Raylynn. Seth, a lifelong friend, has been a support for Gordon after he had lost his wife to cancer a few years back. When Gordon arrives on the island, he finds the boarding house facing an uncertain winter after a tough accident, and by jumping in to help, he once again finds some purpose in his own life.

Sarita came to Dumont expecting to stay for just a few weeks in order to give her grieving niece and herself some time to heal. When she receives a financial windfall while visiting, she begins to think that staying close to the people of Dumont Island might be best for both her and Allesandra . When Gordon arrives on the scene, she finds herself enthralled with the idea of a relationship with this amazing man.

Will two broken hearts find a way to mend in time to celebrate the holidays?
