Middle-class life meets hip-hop culture--in the story of a woman on a mission to change her life and the price she must pay for her success.

Synthia Gage lives a very hectic life. Along with running a household and parenting a teenage daughter, she is also one of the top literary agents in New York City, responsible for celebrity authors and millions of dollars. However, by Synthia's own standards her life is at a complete standstill: Her agreement with her live-in ex-husband has expired, her daughter is preparing for college, and her male best friend's problems have become more than she can handle.

So Synthia decides to shake up her life in order to reach her full potential she feels has been avoiding her. She accepts a partnership with a departing boss and agrees to represent hip-hop's notorious female rapper Lil'Shae, despite her raunchy lyrics and lewd dress code that Synthia despises. But when Synthia's daughter idolizes and befriends the rapper Synthia discovers her new life is not what she thought it would be.

A great read from beginning to end. Franklin White is still at his best as one of the premiere authors in the genre!
