A collection of fifteen socialist essays, the majority of which (though heavily rewritten) had originally appeared serially in "The Grand Magazine." This formed the last of Wells's quartet of books on the socialist future -- the others being Anticipations (1901), Mankind in the Making (1903) and A Modern Utopia (1905).
