Heirlooms & Howls
(2026)(Book 12 in the Whispering Falls: Cozy Magical Cat Mystery series)
A novel by Hazel Whitmore
An old thimble has a history. The trouble is proving which history belongs to it.
December has settled over Whispering Falls, bringing glowing shop windows, festival preparations, family arrivals, and one stubborn question Clara Blackwood’s circle still has not answered.
The antique thimble discovered among the Hale materials is old enough to tempt everyone toward an extraordinary conclusion. But age is not ownership, and Clara has learned that wishing for a connection does not make it evidence.
With Donna digging through household inventories, storage records, copied papers, and decades of family custody, the women begin tracing something quieter and perhaps more meaningful: the path of an ordinary object passed through generations of women whose lives were rarely preserved as carefully as the things they left behind.
Meanwhile, Nora’s mother arrives in Whispering Falls, forcing three generations to face what secrecy cost them and decide whether a future together can be built without pretending the past was different.
And Judith is about to discover that Howard has been keeping a family secret of his own.
One impossible act of strength leads beyond Whispering Falls to Timber Hollow, where old alliances, warm kitchens, search-and-rescue stories, and a very different magical community wait beneath the December moon.
As the full-moon festival approaches, Clara’s circle is growing larger, family history is becoming clearer, and the people they love are asking harder questions about truth, consent, belonging, and what it means to choose one another with their eyes open.
Welcome back to Whispering Falls, where old heirlooms keep their secrets, cats always notice more than people do, and sometimes the truth arrives with a paper trail... and a howl.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
