Calvin Hamilton has taken himself off to a far-flung Scottish island to work remotely and enjoy a reprieve from the incessant meddling of his family.
Every last one of them is obsessed with finding him a wife and, unsurprisingly, Calvin's hatched an obsession too:
Getting the noisy, nosy lot of them off his case...
But with a big family get-together looming on the horizon, Calvin knows that turning up without a girl on his arm is going to send every last member of his clan into a tailspin.

Struggling artist Francesca Ramsay has taken a short let cottage on Primrose Island so that she can paint some seascapes and, fingers crossed, boost her flagging career.
But she's running out of money fast – and though she'd rather not stray out of her comfort zone, namely: putting paint on canvases – on the recommendation of some island busybodies, she reluctantly agrees to meet with one Calvin Hamilton.
The busiest of the island busybodies have informed Francesca that the man's willing to pay good money for a very brief period of employment.
All above board, the island ladies say. An easy-peasy cash injection.
Fair enough then. What's not to love?
Well... Calvin, it turns out.

Because as Francesca has to keep reminding herself – their arrangement is transactional.
