The Covid-25 Accounts Book One: Sweet Slaughter

(2020)
A Story by

The people of Scornhaven are a hardy lot. They endured the first pandemic with only a handful of fatalities. Despite what they say on the news, this second one won’t be any different.

This is a short story of around 10,000 words

Covid-25 has killed millions across the world, sweeping a path of misery and fear as this new deadly disease makes its way through every country on the planet. The UK has yet to suffer its first case, but that is about to change.

Scornhaven are prepared for the worse. There’s enough hidden food to last them for months and they have erected barricades around their border. Not that it’ll be necessary as the government have already announced they’re starting trials of a new vaccine and their town will be receiving the first batch of doses.

Something went horribly wrong. The vaccine had an adverse effect on some of the population. It changed them. Changed them into something less than human. Something monstrous.

Welcome to Scornhaven, thirty years later. I hope you have brought a gun. A big gun.
