Stranger at the Door

Pauline Crompton, a freelance illustrator, finds a unique little cottage in a quiet village, where she can at last settle down to her work undisturbed. Just down the lane, there is nothing but the vast moors stretching for miles and, far away, the prison. However, life turns out not to be so peaceful after all. When an escaped prisoner asks for help, pleading innocence, what is she going to do? Believe in him and help, or have him sent back behind locked doors?
