Somebody's Home
(2026)(The sixth book in the Unwanted Starship series)
A novel by David Brown and John Walker
For forty thousand years, the Walker kept every soul it took.
Now it has started throwing them away.
Twenty-three prison hulls lie scattered across the old road. Each holds a living captive, knocking from the dark with only hours of air left. Every hour spent cutting them free, the Walker pulls further ahead, racing for the place its song began.
And the fleet is no longer alone. An old imperial yardmaster has bought an army of leashed ships, and he knows what waits at the end of the road: the garden, the cradle where living starships are born. Whoever holds it owns every ship that will ever wake.
Then the fleet reaches the garden. Its door is sealed, and something on the other side has been waiting a very long time for the right question.
Nobody was home.
Now somebody is.
And opening that door will cost more than anyone can count.
Genre: Science Fiction
