In 1857 Garth de Verries returned to Cornwall to claim his inheritance, which included part of the Cornish moors dominated bythe Granite King, a landscape that spoke of bygone ages. Caroline Dorric had wandered the moors by her home since her childhood and had come to regard the Granite King as her own special place - until Garth returned. What happened then set in motion a story of passion, love and tenderness, influenced always by the brooding presence of the Granite King.
