The influence a railroad has on the prosperity of a region in the late eighteen-hundreds can be overwhelming, especially to one small town and its citizens. When men from back east try to gain control of a small regional rail carrier they are met with resistance from local landowners as well as a small town sheriff and the few deputies that work for him. It doesn't take long before men start to die. A long simmering mistrust of outsiders soon brings the region to the brink of war. The troubles soon separate those that stand for justice from those that strive to destroy it.
