He was promised a position of safety within the mountain cave for him and his family, but when the massive steel doors closed, Colson was on the outside. Now, with the meteor closing in on the planet, he is about to join millions of others in death.

Colson followed orders right down to the end. That was his mistake. Now, forced to find safety for him, his wife, and their two daughters, Colson makes a desperate dash up into the Smoky Mountains in hopes that height will protect him from the impact.

When the impact occurs, the ground rumbles and rocks begin to fall, blocking their path in both directions. Stuck and in need of shelter, Colson and his family join others as they seek protection in caves located at the bottom of a mountain in a secluded valley.

As the ground ceases shaking, Colson ventures back down the mountain on foot in search of supplies only to discover there is nothing left at ground level. All structures have been flattened and those who survived the impact are all hunting for the same thing he is, food. Locked in a struggle to locate and hold onto items his family needs to survive, Colson must battle other determined and increasingly violent people all willing to kill to possess whatever he has collected.
