Wait - no, don’t close the book. Please, don’t leave me in the dark. You are my only connection to normality and when you close me away, I’m left alone with the horrors that hide behind these letters. If you do have to close the book and go about your normal reality,
remember I’m between the pages waiting to be heard. I’ll speak to you quickly now, so you won’t close me away.

Let me start at the beginning. Let me tell you it all.

What feels like a long time ago now, I was awoken by the smell of ink. The white walls of the small room were like a notebook; black lines even striping across the ceiling. It felt emptier, more hollow than a simple white room should feel, since it was missing the words that were meant to spill across the empty pages. Some of the corners of the room were folded, but past those damaged edges it was pitch black like the cover of a book. I couldn’t climb the lines of the pages and crawl onto the next page: I was trapped in my unwritten words. I found no door, but what I did find was the only other written thing in this room apart from the bed - a desk.

On the lines of the desk, in front of the equally lined desk chair, was a notebook that looked exactly like this room. Next to it was the only thing that wasn’t lined, but would make more lines - a black pen. On the lines of the cover, in untidy handwriting, was written:

BOUND BY THE SPINE

I slowly opened the cover, preparing to see dark scribbles of the demon that waited to be released from the pages, spreading onto the pages of the spine that bound me.

Write your end, and the chapter will close.
Apart from that, it mirrored the walls, unfilled. Until it wasn’t.
