The In-Between

(2023)
A novel by

Evan Roberts sees dead people.

In his bedroom, in his front parlor, on the streets and in his dreams, the dead occasionally come calling. Spirits always seem to be around somewhere, and they usually appear when he least expects them. Sometimes they’re only shadows in the corner of a room, or a mist at the top of the stairs. Other times they seem as real as Evan, and if he didn’t know any better, he could mistake them for the living. In fact, he sometimes did.

When the son of an old friend of his grandmother’s goes missing after a night out at a gay club, the woman comes to Evan to beg for his help. He tries giving her a reading, but though he can “see” the young man’s murder, he can’t get a clear image of the killer.

And the bodies are beginning to stack up.

Even worse, all of them look a great deal like Evan.

Add in a handsome, country sheriff, who doesn’t believe in psychics, a local who’s out for Evan’s blood and a serial killer who could very well be someone Evan knows, and you have a recipe for suspense. Can Evan and the sheriff put aside their differences and focus on their undeniable attraction to each other instead of their differences? With the killer closing in, love struggles to take root and the sheriff has to learn to believe in Evan and stand with him against a cruel and evil force trying to tear them apart.
