Once a hotshot private detective, Rae Harris had love, money, excitement, and a stellar reputation. Then she lost it all. Now, scraping by repossessing cars in California's wine country, Rae is trying to keep her nose clean and get her license back. Staying out of trouble is easier said than done, however. First, a disembodied hand shows up at the local walnut processing plant. Then, the body it once belonged to is found in a nearby vineyard. Rae can't seem to keep out of the investigation despite warnings from her best friend in the District Attorney's office, small-town heavies and the attractive-yet-mysterious new police chief.
