I Laugh to Keep from Crying

Dorothy LaCroix has no idea that a summer trip to her family's reunion will change her life forever. During the family gathering in Atlanta, she meets the man who eventually becomes her husband. David Leonard, a young, prominent medical student, already has a girlfriend. After one meeting with Dorothy, his fondness and long-time relationship with his girlfriend are put into question. Until David secures a permanent position in Dorothy's heart, his best friend Jerome tries to woo Dorothy's affection, but fails miserably.

Just before Dorothy falls head over hills in love with David, she is cautioned by David's ex-girlfriend. Bettye informs Dorothy that David is not the man she thinks he is. Dorothy and David's marriage is put to the ultimate test when Chanel enters the picture.
