Stalking is such an ugly word. I prefer "a neighborhood watch with a body count".

My name is Rian, and I found love for the very first time in Noemi, a shy bookstore employee. The main problem? She has no idea that I exist.

I stumbled across Noemi while doing recon for the Keane crew, detailed to surveillance for my gang of psychopaths. I have a voice who whispers in my head, I kill bad men for fun… and yet I'm the least crazy one of the bunch.I lay eyes on Noemi and it's like my brain chemistry changes. She's sunshine in a cardigan, and I'm the well of darkness she doesn't know she's standing in. Silky dark hair, dangerous curves hidden beneath boring dresses, a shy smile that sets my world on fire. She's a good girl with a sassy mouth. And I have to stick close. For protection, definitely not because I'm obsessed.

I'm supposed to be monitoring our enemies' location. Instead, I'm following her down the street. Breaking into her house when I know she won't notice. Watching her from the shadows to make sure she's safe. It's better if I don't make myself known to her, because my world brings nothing but violence and danger.

But despite my staying away from Noemi, trouble comes to her doorstep. One day my boss calls me away to deal with something else, and Noemi vanishes without a trace. A rumor surfaces that she's been taken, held for auction against her will.

I'll burn this city to the ground to get her back. The part I haven't worked out is what happens after, when she's awake, furious, and demanding to know why she's now being held captive by the man who claims to love her.
