Held Over

(2027)
(The second book in the Safehouse series)
A novel by

Jules Bennett was supposed to be gone in seventy-two hours.

The country house was a holding point. A room down the hall from whoever had been here last.

But on day four Roman Hale cancels the transfer.
On day five he takes Jules’s phone and tells him the danger hasn’t gone away just because he has.
On day six Roman sits on the edge of the bed and says Jules isn’t leaving the property
until he says so.

Jules saw the drop go wrong. He was a witness, a loose end, a boy who should have been moved down the chain and forgotten.

Roman was supposed to stash him here. Not learn how Jules takes his coffee in the morning. Not put a hand on the back of Jules’s neck when he starts to shake.
Not say Daddy like the word already lived in the house.

The threat outside hasn’t moved.
Neither has Roman.
Temporary was a courtesy.
Held over means Jules stays until Roman is done—and Roman does not look done.

Held Over is the second book in the Safehouse series. Each book is a standalone. Same house. New couple.
