On a late spring afternoon, Mitchell St. Cyr drove to his former mother-in-law's and picked up Maggie and Russell. He changed their name to Smith and headed out of Seattle. He had kidnapped his own children, and none of their lives would ever be the same. Fleeing the dark world his children's stepfather had exposed them to, he sought a safe haven in Florida with Clara and Pop Kendall.
