Pray, love, remember

(1958)
A novel by

Jane had led a sheltered childhood until the sudden death of her father. Imaginative, artistic and shy, she was ill-prepared to meet the difficulties of her changing circumstances. Every summer, however, she spent some happy weeks with her cousins on the Welsh coast. She painted, sailed and went fishing with Jim. Then 1939 brought change again and memories of this place recurred like an enchantment to Jane in the succeeding years.

Early in the war Jane met Michael, who was then in the Navy, and eventually they married, only to be separated almost at once. When the war ended, she learned painfully that material success was his only aim, and that she and their sons were of importance to him only as symbols. Her despair grew, until through love remembered she found courage to face the unrelenting demands of her life...
