Hannah Zook is shaken after finding out that the handsome former Amish widower that she'd smacked and ran away at the lake was the rescue squad diver that had pulled her sister from the lake to try to save her. To make things worse, the moment that she finds out the truth about her sister's final moments on that foggy morning, William's beeper goes off. There is an Amish girl without her kapp at the bottom of the lake.
Hannah begins to question her own faith and relationship with God and Christ. Is she as close as she should be, or has she let the death of her sister shatter the strong bond that she and the Lord had when she'd read her German Bible by the lake?
William Zook left Shipshewana to get away from the lonely house after his wife, Rebecca was killed. He thinks that he is past remarrying because he wants to stand before Rebecca in heaven as her only love. However, the Good Book mentions that a man needn't be lonely, and God encourages widowers like himself to enjoy life and remarry. Can William ever do this? Can getting closer to the Lord help him during this difficult time? He finds Hannah to be attractive, and he may be willing to look past the slap in the face if he could do one thing again.
To kiss her sweet lips.
