Tim tells Christine about his life as a secret agent, but only in so far as it regarded Philip. He also says that Philip and his co-workers had done terrible things such as torturing and killing innocent women and children for fun. Tim and his colleagues believe Philip was the person who tampered with Tim’s parachute during a mission, causing Tim to plummet to the ground.

Tim discovers many important things during his trip to town, not least that Philip’s death didn’t happen the way it was reported, although he still has no idea what really happened. His ex-boss gives him access to secret files and asks him to find out the truth.

Watching the news Christine learns Carlton Brice, the head of defense was assassinated, but more surprisingly she sees Philip in the crowd as the television cameras pan round the scene.
