Dottie and William have had a lovely honeymoon in the Canary Islands, and are returning via the Channel Islands to begin their married life together in London.
But when they arrive at the port of departure, they are greeted with the news that the shipping line they were to travel home with have gone out of business, and for first class passengers only they have provided a small, battered old ship that is definitely past its best. Dottie can't help but wonder if it will get them home safely.
And then their fellow passengers arrive: a ragbag of second-rate entertainers, a famous face or two, and a former colleague of William's that he is not too happy to see again.
