Unmasked

(2022)
(The second book in the Paris Holloman Horror Mystery series)
A novel by

Paris Holloman’s ability to identify the soon-to-be-dead is a curse. Usually.

But when a high school boy is discovered dead in the town cemetery, the police chief calls on his friend Paris for advice. He fears something awful and inexplicable is going on. And he believes Paris may be able to get to the bottom of it.

Shortly before the young man’s death, an anonymous list had been sent to the police department. The list contained six names, all known to the chief. The first name on it is the young man who was discovered dead in the cemetery. The last name is Paris’s own.

Someone in this small Alabama town knows when people are going to die. If Paris’s unique vision thing can confirm a pending death, should he tell the potential victims? Or try to save them? Whatever Paris decides, it’s going to cause pain. Some folks already believe Paris himself may be responsible for the recent spate of deaths.

Most people in the town don’t trust him and never have. So they’re unlikely to believe it if he says they’re going to die soon. And there’s more. Rumors that Paris keeps the body of a woman in his home. A woman who died a year earlier. A woman who was his wife.

In truth, there are lots of secrets in this little town. And bizarre stories that just may be true. There are seductions. Broken promises. Plus monsters with pretty faces.

And that’s just for starters.

This will
not end the way anyone expects.
