Zane McCabe is a mysterious stranger with a haunted past.
He wanders from Kansas to Nebraska, and straight into the valley of the Loup River on a horse named Buck, with a dog named Wolf, dragging with him a reputation that just won’t stay buried. He’s left behind a life of crime and the possible love of a beautiful green-eyed woman.
All Zane wants now is to keep his cowboy hat on, his head down, his Colt .45 holstered, and his business his own. He yearns for a fresh start. Zane will stop at nothing to try to bring peace and tranquility to the valley, stealing a bit of it for himself, if he doesn’t die in the trying first.
