The London Gambit

This is by far the longest book in the series and one of the very best. King Henry is ailing, Prince Edward is crusading in the Holy Land, and England's barons are planning to rise again in a third Barons War in another effort to put one of their own on the throne. The barons' plan is to muster their forces in western Devon and forage in nearby Cornwall because it has no knights and levies to defend. Proceeding with their plan to forage in Cornwall is a bad decision that results in intense fighting between the barons and the Company of Archers—and an unexpected gambit by the Company's commander that yields unexpected results.
