Doran is the most recent in a long line of unlucky people. His family had been chased across Europe, and Doran himself was chased over to America, only to be diagnosed with a terminal illness. Luckily for Doran, a few years earlier a rift in time and space had opened in America. Sealed off by the US Military, the rift had been injecting a steady stream of monsters onto Earth. It soon became a convenient place for the nations of the world to toss their criminal element. Other thrill seekers would choose to make the one way trip in search of a new frontier. Doran's diagnosis forced his hand, and he joined the mass of people rushing to the new world in a quest for a cure. Will he live happy and healthy in his new world, or will he simply end it all much sooner in the belly of a snarling monster?
