While still researching and planning on what to do about the Velmt Cult, the Totem Bearers lose focus, and Nicholas is captured. They have to face the cult and help Nicholas before his powers are taken away from him. If that happened, it could kill him. When the cult sends the rest of the group a message, Nicholas pleads with them not to show up, claiming that he would rather sacrifice himself rather than have the others step into their trap.
Alyssa suggests they all wait, but Mona won’t have it. She could not think of losing another person again. She goes to the cult without informing the others, and then she, too, is captured.
