When Selina discovers that gambler Mr. Rufford is to be her only fellow-passenger on a voyage from Bristol to Ireland in the autumnof 1813, she is not too pleased. Had she realised they were to beconstant companions for days and nights on end, she would have been appalled. However, during bizarre and sometimes dangerous travels she becomes more attracted to him, but the truth about Mr.Rufford, his gaming and his wife, is far more startling that Selina suspects.
