Death, Heists and Hat People
(2026)(Book 15 in the Pelican Shores Cozy Mystery series)
A novel by Bessie Barr
Pelican Shores has never looked this international—or this suspicious.
Finn Dockrey has plenty to distract her in Pelican Shores. Things with Detective Pace Stringfellow are definitely heating up, her BFF, Birdie, is stirring up pumpkin streusel bars, and Tory McGee has somehow convinced a flock of glamorous international visitors to model her new Tide & Brim hat line. Or has she?Because the strangers seem far more interested in old paintings, jewelry, and island estates than fashion.
Then local estate dealer Kitty Kelley turns up dead.
Suspicion falls everywhere. A furious son claims Kitty cheated his family out of a priceless first edition Hemingway. Kitty's loyal right-hand man has a suspicious hole in his alibi. And the mysterious ‘hat people’ seem to know one another far better than they admit.
Then Finn hears the name von Röemer—legendary thieves with whispered fortunes. And two fabled treasures rumored to have surfaced somewhere in Pelican Shores. Suddenly, Kitty’s death may be tied to something much bigger than one bad deal. With Birdie, Beau, Queen Bean, and half of Pelican Shores in the mix, Finn starts digging into Kitty’s secrets—until someone warns her to stop.
Whatever brought the hat people to Pelican Shores may be worth a fortune. And somebody is willing to kill to keep it hidden.
DEATH, HEISTS AND HAT PEOPLE is a warm and twisty Texas beach cozy mystery filled with quirky suspects, seaside charm, loyal friends, slow-burn romance, laugh-out-loud humor, and enough four-legged sleuthing to keep you guessing until the lights go dark.EXTRA INFORMATION FOR YOU, READER:
