A Story by

This is the final book in the Wessex Story arc. In book 8 a lockkeeper's daughter goes missing from a beautiful and tranquil location beside the canal. She is fifteen years old and deemed vulnerable, and so the Wessex Police are keen to find her quickly.
Along the way they encounter people who don't want to tell the truth, people who want to hide the truth and people who could be destroyed by the truth. Tracking the evidence along every investigative pathway seems to be leading them nowhere. What else can they do?
They soon begin to understand the old adage, it takes a village to raise a child. The detectives are less keen on one local's additional line, but it only takes one villager to kill her!
Join DCI Briar, DS Root and DC Branch as they fight their way through lies and half truths in their search for the missing girl before she becomes a dead missing girl.
