Imprisoned for ten years, clinging on to the memory of his daughter, Barbara, was the only thing that helped Sam Westwood survive.

Now released, all Sam wants is to be reunited with his daughter. However, Barbara detested her father's memory and, leaving her mother and brother, Roger, at home, she walked out - never to be seen again.

But Sam's not the only one desperate to find her. Roger has his own reason for wanting Barbara back: a wild scheme which, with the addition of Sam's old associates, would prove to have dangerous complications...

John Burke was born in Sussex in 1922. He served in the Royal Air Force, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Royal Marines during the war. After working for the publishers Museum Press and the Books for Pleasure Group, he was a Public Relations and Publications Executive for Shell (1959 - 63) and Story Editor for Twentieth Century-Fox (1963 - 65) before becoming a full-time writer in 1966.
