(1968)
A novel by

After her parents' tragic deaths, Diana was thankful to receive an invitation from her Uncle Max to spend a long holiday with him in Venice. Never having been to Italy before, she was looking forward to spending much more than the usual tourist sightseeing type of holiday. But things did not turn out quite so happily as Diana had expected. Her uncle was more than welcoming - but her Aunt Vera showed her nothing but jealousy and resentment, and made it clear that she did not want Diana's holiday to be anything but a short one. What with one thing and another, Diana was glad to accept Mark del Moreno's offer of a job as companion to his young ward Felicina - but then even that went wrong, when she fell hopelessly in love with her new employer at the same time as she had to arrange his wedding to his beautiful ward.
