About the author
Born in the UK in 1904, Ida Cook used the pen name Mary Burchell for her romance stories. Together with her sister Louise, Ida rescued Jews from the Nazi regime during World War II. This heroic act was funded by her romance writing, and she managed to save 29 innocent lives. Apart from her brave actions, Ida wrote 112 romance novels. She had a love for opera and incorporated this into this wonderful series. Ida died in 1986 as a British Hero of the Holocaust.
