Jumper

(2000)
A novel by

Dr Samuel Garvey has been designing roller coasters since he was a young boy and leads his field. In the middle of working on his masterpiece Jumper, which will climax its ride by jumping from one track to another, he received a call from Rachel White of the National Transportation Safety Board. She asks for his help in investigating a fatal accident at the Cyclone in Coney Island. As they review the facts, they begin to realise that there have been several roller coaster accidents recently that have previously not been seen as connected. Now they become aware that someone is deliberately causing them - a killer with an unknown motive, clever enough to escape detection. More accidents follow and as JUMPER nears completion, Garvey and White find, in a hair-raising climax, that the danger has come threateningly close to home. A thriller that will leave you feeling as if you have just survived a roller coaster ride of your own.
