This is Doc Adams' most extraordinary adventure yet, with his cat dying hideously after being shot by a pellet gun. But this is no ordinary pellet: it is one made of 'Moscow Metal', radioactive thallium, the horrible death-dealing substance used by the KGB to dispose of their most hated targets. But what is a KGB hit-man doing in peaceful Concorde, Massachusetts? Doc is ordered by the FBI not to interfere. Typically, he ignores them and soon finds himself entangled in the lethal, shadowy world of espionage, where the stakes are high and obstacles ruthlessly removed.
