Rowan Page has been asking questions.

This is not unusual. Knowing when to stop asking them would be.

Four months after the last disaster in Willow Cove, Rowan is still trying to find out what really happened to her aunt Oona. The answers seem to be buried somewhere in the past, along with a mysterious photograph, a secret magical circle, and several people who would very much prefer old secrets stay buried.

Quill & Tide is not helping.

The bookshop is full of renovation workers, Moss is furious about the disruption, and something hidden inside the old building has apparently been waiting a very long time to be found.

Then one of the last people connected to Oona’s secret agrees to talk.

She dies before she gets the chance.

The police see an elderly woman whose heart stopped. Rowan sees a pattern, especially when someone breaks into the bookshop and the mayor starts making threats about things he claims not to know anything about.

Now Rowan is chasing a secret that began long before she was born, while someone seems increasingly determined to make sure she never reaches the truth.

Rowan came to Willow Cove thinking she had inherited a bookshop.

She is starting to suspect the mystery she inherited is far from over.

And whoever killed to protect the past may not be finished.
