Can he stay alive long enough to do his duty?

Savage, a Pinkertown detective, has been ordered to protect Mark Channing, the XL rancher.

When he arrives in Eden, he quickly finds out that Channing is a hated man and by association, Savage is immediately unwelcome.

Channing suspects El Lobo, a Mexican bandit, of making attempts on his life and instructs Savage to guard him around the clock.

But Savage is distracted from his duties by the animosity of the town, the beautiful dancer Paloma and the mysterious English guy...

When Channing is killed, Savage rides south in pursuit of El Lobo, the man Channing fears above all others, and teams up with the local police to win the price on his head.

However, things turn out very differently from what he expects. He meets El Lobo and survives, but faces even greater danger from Rodrigo of the Rurales, a man noted for his brutality and fierce dogs.

It looks as if Savage has come to the end of the road. Before unmasking a cunning murderer, he must first stay alive.
